I have not read this book due to the fact that all of my spare reading time is spent on DL. However, I have heard various people discussing the book and was struck by one thing. It is my understanding that the premise of the book is that there is a kid who shares a mental link with a dragon. This seems like a blatant rip off of the DL Barbarians trilogy with the dragon Duranix. Anyone read this book and have any thoughts on this?

This is Kalowen
This is a problem considering the Movie is absolutly NOTHING like the Book.

Read the Blue AND the Red Bricks

I know its impossible not to notice all the Star Wars influences in the book, even more so in the movie.I actually dont mind the books that much, once u get past the clices.it would be good if they remade the Eragon movie properly (it does seem like the screenwriters didnt even bother to read the book) and then make Eldest, but I doubt it would happen only 2 years after making Eragon.as long as they kept Garrett Hedlund as Murtagh *drools* and gave him more than 4 seconds of screen time,I'd be happy.

As soon as I read about the "Jedi Knight" dragon riders, I put the book down.

Ohhehe sorry. However I sese to see the Star wars quality that eveyone is refering to.

I meant for humor purposes.

The movie's so bad (and such a Star Wars ripoff) that it's hilarious to watch.

Naw I liked the book but the movie looked like it was made by some retard who had never read the book. So many dumb changes and bad script work. They mushed secnes together and cut out so much their was hardly a story any more. The book okthe movie

You got a point Vassor. I grant the book was so so not a bad read but yes the movie was tarrible! Feathers on a dragon I ask you.

I didn't see the film, but if it was worse than the book, then it must be absolutely terrible. Not for nothing, but 16 year old boys should be focusing on spending most of their time finding an impossible solution to remove their facial blemishes and then spending the rest of their time making out with chicks. Certainly not attempting to write a novel using every cliche imaginable, regardless of how advanced their schooling was.

I read the first book and I realy enjoyed it for all its childish chopy centenses. the world he created is dynamic and he created his own langwedge. The characters were interesting all in all it was a good read. I havent read any of the others yet because DL and other such books have gotten in my way but I will eventualy. Let me just say if you like the book and you havent seen the movie yet DONT. If you value your sanity DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. it is a travesty.

wow. took him long enough! And I knew he wouldn't be able to finish the series off in one book that was less than the size of a whole encyclopedia collection! But now we have to wait another 6 years before getting to the end. I really wonder if these books have the lasting power. Eldest is STILL sitting on my bedside table waiting to be finished. I don't think I picked it up since my last post in this thread!

I saw posters for Brisingr at the bookshop.i'm thinking about pre-ordering it cos then its only $20 instead of 30-odd.
