Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are thrilled to announce the world premiere of the trailer for the upcoming film, Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight, at the Gen Con Game Fair in Indianapolis, Indiana. The trailer for the animated fantasy film will be shown on Thursday night at 6:00 PM CDT (final location to be announced) along with footage shot by both Weis and Hickman during their journey alongside the filmmaking process.

Margaret Weis Productions, Ltd. will be hosting the authors in booth #2417, along with actor Jason Marsden, who portrays Tasslehoff Burrfoot in the animated film. Weis, Hickman, and Marsden will be signing autographs and answering questions about the movie for the fans — who can also receive special Dragonlance movie collector’s cards available only at the convention.

Dragons of the Highlord Skies, the second book in the Lost Chronicles trilogy by Weis & Hickman will be available at the show. Dragons of Krynn, the definitive sourcebook about the legendary creatures in the world of Dragonlance, will debut at the convention in a full-color hardcover that features essays by a number of best-selling fantasy authors.

What day is gencon so we can all get our hopes up for a trailer on the internet?

Just because a thing isn't true doesn't mean you can't believe in it! ... Some
of the most important things we believe may or may not be true ... that people
are basically good ... that honor, courage and virtue are everything ... that
money and power, power and money are nothing ... and that love ... true love
never dies. ... They may or may not be true but we believe in them, because
they're the only things worth believing in."

What are the chances of this trailer showing up on the internet?

Like fantasy, powerful mages, dragons, that kind of thing?

I just asked this question to MW over on the nexus forums and here was her reply:

quote:
W're hoping Paramount will release it for public viewing after Gen Con. Can't promise, however!

If they don't, we're hoping to have it to show at Dragon Con.

Margaret

And there's always the hope that because these conventions attract a lot of techno-geeks, if Paramount drags it's a** someone will figure out how to pirate a copy on to the internet.

My question is, why are they keeping the trailers as convention only? the "no promises" quote does not fill me with joy.

It's strange that they're listing the time in CDT since Indianapolis is in the Eastern time zone (unfortunately in EDT now). When we were in EST _only_, the CDT figure would have made sense (CDT and EST are the same time)...

Just to make sure, if you're planning on going, show up at 6 EDT (when all the clocks at gencon say 6), in case they had a typo. You may have to sit for an hour, but at least you'll be on time.

MW doesn't have the final say-so, so she doesn't want to promise something she can't actually provide. I'm ppositive we'll see it online soon enough.

This is what happens when artists put their precious work into the hands of corporate America.

Yes, I guess so. Well, I'll be on you tube for the next few months waiting for the trailer so I'll see you all later!

I reall don't understand the way they are doing the advertising for the film. It's like they don't want people to talk about it outside the conventions and people that are avid fans of Role playing games and such.I mean if i was to distribute this kind of film, i wouldn't limit this to conventions. I know they don't want to spend much money on advertising and are counting on the word to mouth, but man, they could do more just by providing a little more info on IMDB or spreading the word on a larger scale, that way the word to mouth would be so much more efficient.
