Ur doing that ur self by being a jerk where there are a lot of people that are Dragonlance fans, in a place that is for Dragonlance fans. You have no evidence to support ur opinion because you dont know for sure that LOTR is better then DL.

Thanks for the welcoming!
Personally, LotR is still my favorite movie, then GoThrones. LotR is a classic, but didn't do it for me, magic-wise. I'm a DnD fan at heart, so anything DnD (If done right) would trump LotR...in my opinion. Peter Jackson did a fabulous job, but that's not the say some other director can make a Dragonlance movie just was well (Or we'll string him up!)
DnD has more magic, thus more opportunity for on screen special effects that LotR couldn't produce because the magic was just a different sort. Think about it. What kind of magic was in LotRs -- lightning, being able to talk to animals, telekinesis, force spells, Gandolf's fire shield, etc....you get the point. I don't have to list what DnD spells have to offer for eye candy on the big screen, it's endless. Not to mention creatures are more wondrous in DnD.
I'm not putting LotR down because I love it still, but a DnD movie done right (Not the one with Jeremy Irons, not on the SciFi channel, and not a cartoon!), would, in my opinion, trump anything else. Dragonlance would be the best place to start..awesome characters, magic, dragons, unbelievable story line, etc......
I'm just really upset that SOMEONE hasn't stepped up to the plate to produce a Dragonlance movie since LotR showed how possible it is.

Got a great Point but hears my question. Who would want to make a DL move real life. Who is good enough to come up with great Ideas to make it just as good as LOTR's movies?. |

Your welcome Quazi176
...in a kind of an answer to your question Hammer, it would obviously be someone who has a HEART for it as well as a PASSION. Someone who has read the series for themselves and loves it like we do......
....and as of late, I do not think there is anyone who is a Director or Producer that does except the authors and us....

I have the feeling that the only way a DL movie will be made is if a fan makes the pitch. Someone as passionate as those we have here I think could get it done. I`d do it my self but I dont have any experiance in the field of movie makeing.

One of my life goals is to see a DL movie made. If someone else doesn't make it, I just might have to someday. I would at least put a lot of money into helping it get created if that's the problem...but that would be later when I've actually made a life for myself. Somebody has to see the potential for these movies! I mean, really? I would probably die if I heard that they were making them. And on the LOTR thing...I am a HUGE LOTR fan and I always will be. I absolutely adore the stories and the movies. I'm also a HUGE DL fan and absolutely adore those stories. I think that they are both equal to me, but in different ways. They are two completely different things and the great thing is that I can love and obsess over each of them for the different things they offer. So, yeah...Anyway, I wonder who someone would have to talk to to get a movie made for DL. I wonder if they've thought about it.
"Raistlin!" It was Crysania's voice. Lifting his gaze, he saw her standing before him, holding his hands away from his face, her eyes wide and filled with concern. "I'm all right", Raistlin said coldly. "Leave me alone!" But, even as he spoke, he sighed and lowered his head again, shuddering as the horror of the dream washed over him. Pulling a clean cloth from a pocket, he began to dab at the wounds on his face. "No, you're not", Crysania murmured, taking the cloth from his shaking hands and gently touching the bleeding gouges. "Please, let me do this", she said, as he snarled something unintelligible. "I know you wont let me heal you, but there is a clear stream near. Come, drink some water, rest and let me wash these". Sharp, bitter words were on Raistlin's lips. He raised a hand to thrust her away. But then he realized he didn't want her to leave. The darkness of the dream receded when she was with him. The touch of warm, human flesh was comforting after the cold fingers of death. And so, he nodded with a weary sigh.

Tolkein's books were out for YEARS before anything was made. They had a cartoon made first as well. I am not sure if you can call it a flop or not but it was not a huge market success.
Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are great books, hard reads though. JRRT did an AMAZING job of describing middle earth but a befuddling job at times on the characters. Gimli son of Gloin was pretty much all you knew of him. Aragorn was called fifty different names and at times the reader has to stop and think ok is he King Elandril, Dundean, Strider, Aragorn, Heir of Islidur...and on and on.
Dragonlance is a much easier read, keeps you more engaged page after page. You get through the book WAY FASTER. Lord of the Rings was awesome but you had to read the Appendix to get the back stories that were so often referenced during the book that made it hard to understand at times.
I still think Dragonlance done like the animated Beowulf would be AMAZING!!!! |

I couldnt agree more. Tolkein may have been a great author but his style realy made my head hurt The writeing style in Dragonlance is what I like and it is the style I have tried to emulate.
I dont know about that, if you are talking about the Beowulf movie that I know I`m not really into that CG over live action thing. I would like to see just classic straight forward live action. LOTR was great without all that CG overlay rubish.

Erelivent? Cuz there are pages and pages in those books dedicated just to describeing things and places and there are instenses when ur like wait time out what the heck was supposed to be happening before I learned what this entire forest looks like and who lives in it? That could get pretty confuseing. And what I mean is that Beowulf and 300 were filmed in live action but then edited with CG effects put over top the end result makes everything look like a comic book in a way.
