The characters speech sounded that way because at the time Arnold didnt speak english very well, that and his accent. I think Arnolds accent added to the character because barbarians werent exactly well educated and it made him sound belivable in the part.

Honestly for me it was not that good i really liked the old one becasue this movie was overdone. It had s much effects on it that i did not appreciate how they changed so much stuff from the older version which was suppose to be the real "feel" of the movie.
The effects were really cool though given the fact that technology can really do a lot of stuff nowadays and they really showed that in the movie so kudos to them!
