Only read A Song of Ice and Fire if you a ready to change your life completely.
It is the best written fantasy series that I've ever read.

Currently reading The Wizard Lord by Lawrence Watt-Evans. His Obsidian Chronicles books were well-written and unusual, and this new series is interesting as well.

Taking up the classics of American literature again. Finished Catcher in the Rye yesterday and now I'm on chapter two of The Great Gatsby.

I've been having a rough couple of days. Last night I poured myself a glass of Irish Whiskey and pulled out Dragon's of Autumn Twilight. Before I even finished chapter 1, everything was better. I should do that more often.

I'm new to this site but not to the awesome world of Dragonlance. I just finished reading the 4th book in the Overworld Series(Dragon Wytch)and the 1rst novel in the Sword of Truth Series(A Wizards First Rule) and now I am delving into The Dragons of Summer Flame for the third time. |

I really liked the Sword of Truth series. I can't stand the author that much but the series is good enough to ignore that bit.

Slorg, do you have A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin in Australia? I think you would really like it. If you don't, let me know and I'll take up a collection to send you one.
Anyone who can't stand Terry Goodkind must have good taste.
I'm reading Despair by Nabokov.

I haven't seen it around, though I do know the books from when I used to work in a bookstore.
The problem with books here in Australia is that a paperback will set you back at least $17, and hardcovers are generally $50 - $75.
It's amazing that there are any literate Aussies at those prices, but then everything is overpriced here.

$17 is insane. We're about $8.00 for paper backs in New York. Depending on shipping costs it may be cheaper to have us send you books! What about ordering from Amazon?
Sorry to digress and stray from topic, but I feel just like Bono and all his world activism, trying to spread peace and stop famine, etc. Except instead of trying to make the world better, I just want to bring quality paperbacks to those who are being ripped off!!!
I think I'll set up a meeting with President Bush, fly to Africa, and then go on tour.

Reading more Sarah Monette (The Mirador) and just finished reading Rise of the Blood Royal by Robert Newcomb (his series is NEVER gonna end is it) and Fledgling by Octavia Butler. Man. Probably the most original vampire book I have ever read. I don't care what you Twilight kids say.
